J'adore MC Solaar!

MC Solaar, or Claude M'Barali was born in Dakar, Senegal March 5th 1969. When he was just six months old his parents left Senegal and moved to Saint, Denis France. When his Claude's father finished his studies in France he moved back to Chad, leaving Claude and his mother in Villeneuve-Saint-Georges, France. When Claude was 12 he spent some time with an uncle in Cairo where he studied at the French school established there. When he returned to France he passed his baccalauréat and went on to study English, Spanish, and Russian. In 1990 MC Solaar (Solaar came from Claude's graffiti tags) went into the studio with Jimmy Jay to record his first demo tapes, "Bouge de Là" which was a hit. In 1991 he went on to record his first full album called "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo", then "Prose Combat" in 1994. In 1995 MC Solaar won the award for Best Male Singer of the Year at the 10th edition of the French "Victoires de la Musique" awards. In 1997 MC Solaar put out the new album "Paradisiaque." (My favorite!)
