Christian Louboutin started designing women's footwear in 1991, in 1992 he began using a red lacquered soles on all his shoes which became his signature. He has actually filed an application for a US trademark protection on his red sole design. The red sole design was a mistake on Christians part; after designing a pair of shoes he felt they lacked energy so he used red nail polish to paint the bottom of them and it was a hit! When Christian was a boy he would sneak out of school and go to Paris to watch the showgirls because he was fascinated by their costumes and their ultra high heels. He brought bake the stiletto's in the 1990's and 200's but his main goal is always to make a womens legs look as long as they can.
